Together with Armand Leroi at Imperial College London, I am engaged in research in applying statistical approaches to understand evolutionary phenomena. Amongst other things, we have developed a statistical approach to identifying `revolutions’ from time series data (pre-print available here whilst this article undergoes review), we are working on a paper that uses Bayesian approaches to estimate selection pressure from data, and another article on the speed of evolutionary phenomena is currently undergoing review.

In 2016, as part of this work, I was involved in the production of a BBC 4 documentary, examining evolutionary biology approaches to analyse the British popular music charts. The experience was a bit strange at times, but also much fun. The documentary aired in February 2017.
